The principal, Christopher Davis, of Croatan High School announced today that Kaylin Fitzsimmons and Mara Jennings have been named Commended Students in the 2027 National Merit Scholarship Program. A Letter of Commendation from the school and National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC®), which conducts the program, will be presented by the principal to these scholastically talented seniors.
About 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise. Although they will not continue in the 2027 competition for National Merit Scholarship awards, Commended Students placed among the top 50,000 students who entered the 2027 competition by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®).
“Those being named Commended Students have demonstrated outstanding potential for academic success,” commented a spokesperson for NMSC. “These students represent a valuable national resource; recognizing their accomplishments, as well as the key role their schools play in their academic development, is vital to the advancement of educational excellence in our nation. We hope that this recognition will help broaden their educational opportunities and encourage them as they continue their pursuit of academic success.”

Junior Class ring and Senior Cap and Gown informational meeting will be held in the CHS Auditorium on Friday, September 11 at approximately 8:10am. If you are absent, see Ms. Garman on Monday September 14. GRADUATION will be held on THURSDAY, May 27, 2027 (more information to follow).
Excellence is a habit, not a destination. We build it every day.
Three consecutive years as an A school. A 92 School Performance Score. The highest achievement and grade-level proficiency in Croatan history. Four consecutive years exceeding expected growth, culminating in a School Accountability Growth Index of 10.15 and one of the highest growth results among high schools in North Carolina.
These numbers represent much more than a report. They represent students who worked, teachers who believed, families who supported, and a school community committed to getting better every day.
We are proud of where we are. We are even more excited about where we are going.
One Team. One Goal. Every Student. Every Day.
Picture Day is September 15th for 9th-11th graders. Families can save $10 on photo packages when they pre-order online. Visit cady.com/pictureday to place your order. #CADY #CADYpics #PictureDay
